Italian Muscle

You might think the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is just another quick executive sedan with a big price tag. Maybe you’re thinking you could go for a cheaper Kia Stinger? I mean it’s fast and aggressive looking, right? Well, yes, it is both of those things, but the Alfa turns up the volume. In musical terms, if the Kia is Bon Jovi, the Alfa is Led Zeppelin.  Let’s explore why. Read on...

There are several models in the Giulia range, but the range topper is the Quadfrifoglio or four leaf clover. Sure, there’s a very limited edition GTA and GTAm, of which there’s one in NZ with a price tag of $400,000 with 30hp more, but apart from that, this version is the top of the tree.

And what that means is a car with over 500hp driving the rear wheels through an 8 speed auto transmission that will charge to 100kph in around 3.8 seconds. The engine is a Ferrari derived V6 with twin turbos that in 2016 powered the Giulia to a record lap for a sedan at the famous Nurburgring. It’s fair to say that this Alfa is a heavy hitter.

But for all that performance the Alfa has a softer side, too. Driving around town doesn’t always require the electric guitars turned up to eleven.  At those times the Alfa can sing a ballad by shutting down one bank of three cylinders, transforming the brute into a fuel sipper, making the Giulia surprisingly economical.

The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is up there with BMW’s M3 or Mercedes’ C63 AMG, only you could argue it’s cooler than both of those cars. After all, it’s an Alfa, with its air of unpredictability and a flair only the Italians can pull off. It’s a thug with a sensitive side. An Italian Beauty with a wild streak.

This Alfa is available to buy right now. More details here.
