Your Next New Car?
New cars are expensive, with electric ones even more so. But what about a nearly new electric car at around the price of a new Suzuki Swift? This 2023 GWM Ora is a full EV with just 665kms on the clock with the balance of its 5 year, 150,000km mechanical and 8 year, unlimited kms battery warrantees. The auction estimate is $23,000 - $27,000, which is pretty good when you consider the RRP is $47,995. Could this be your next new(ish) car? Read on...
The GWM Ora is already one of the lowest priced new EVs on the NZ market. Sadly the “Good Cat” and “Funky Cat” names were dropped for the NZ market but there’s still a lot to like about the Ora. This standard range car will give you up to 300kms from a charge (more realistically around 250kms of normal driving) which puts it firmly in the city car segment. It’s bigger on the inside than the outside would suggest and it’s loaded with safety features that contribute to its 5 star safety rating.
And then there’s the styling. Some may not like the Ora’s looks but it does have style of its own, with a few nods to Porsche, Nissan and Volkswagen, perhaps. Anything that helps your car stand out from the sea of bland, that is often our automotive landscape, has to be a good thing, right?
The Ora is cheap to run, cheap to service, has a long battery warranty and a decent mechanical one as well. It’s fun to drive, is quick for a city car and has a comfortable cabin. There’s much to love about the Ora, not least the price of this one.
The auction takes place on 3rd of April at Turners Wellington. More details here.
