Supercharged Engine, Supercharged Size
If your name is Bobby-Joe, Jim-Bob or Darlene, you love Nascar and own more than one gun, then this 1999 Chevrolet Silverado could be just what you’re looking for. But, to be fair, whilst trucks like this used to seem huge in NZ, now they are merely very big compared to the modern Ranger and Hilux utes that grace our roads today. This one has spent it’s life in NZ and is supercharged. Read on...
Despite the stereo-type I used above, half the population of America seems to drive a truck similar to this – the Ford F Series, for example, is their biggest selling car – but they do conjure up images of plaid shirts, Ted Nugent and hunting critters. But they are grunty and very useful for pulling and carrying the really big stuff.
This particular truck has been in NZ since nearly new and is a left hooker. It also has the handy extended cab so you can take the whole family Possum shooting. You’ll need a stiff shot of Southern Comfort and a lie down after you’ve filled up with gas though. The 5.3 litre supercharged V8 will be thirsty and it’ll be a long and agonising wait at the pump as it slurps down a seemingly endless amount of 98 octane. However, the retrofitted Vortech supercharger should add 100bhp and a bunch more torque.
If you need an impressively large ute with an insatiable thirst then Turners Christchurch have you covered. The price guide is a mere $17,000 - $19,000. More details here.
